  • FIS Celebrates Seven  Badges of Success!

    Badges

We celebrate with our PBIS team and all who demonstrated positive behaviors as we received badges of success this week for our accomplishments during our last school year. We are honored to be recognized for our students’ and staff members’ teamwork, teaching, community connections, classroom communities, data analysis, tier 2 responses, and instructional & restorative practices. We thank our co-chairs, Mr. Schell and Mrs. Harrington, and we thank the whole team and our staff for supporting our students with incentives and recognitions for positive behaviors. Congratulations to our school and our students!

  • WEEKS AHEAD

    Important

    • Our next parent university workshop will be held Thursday, September 30, from 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. The topic will be positive parenting, and the link will be attached to the email message associated with this phone blast. Alternatively, you may visit the wcboe.org website and follow the clickable links found there.

    Parent University, Spanish

    • While we will continue to celebrate and acknowledge students’ birthdays through the morning announcements, and our teachers will acknowledge the same in their classrooms, we can accept no treats from home to celebrate in the lunch room or in students’ classrooms. Please don’t send treats, even packaged treats, to school to celebrate! Perhaps we may be able to open our doors a little wider in the future, but we continue to prohibit such treats at FIS. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.
    •  MAP Assessment Letter-  This letter references the upcoming MAP assessment in mathematics. Please click on this link that will open the document, and review the information about this autumn assessment.  PARENT LETTER I ELEM, MAP.pdf
    • We remind parents that students in elementary grades may not have phones in school according to the code of conduct. This includes smart watches and other electronic devices that connect to or emulate phones. Please refrain from sending these devices to school with your child. While we will not search for phones in backpacks or other bags, we cannot tolerate students openly carrying phones, texting parents or others during instruction, recording voice or video, or using these devices to the distraction of classmates, administrators and staff members. We, especially, cannot have phones on or open during our standardized testing sessions. Please work with us so that we don’t have to police phones and force parents to retrieve them from school.
    • With the new school year underway, we wanted everyone to have the link to the School Notices & Forms page on our website where important documents can be found throughout the year. (Or, go to www.wcboe.org, go to Quick Links in the lefthand menu, and select “School Notices & Forms.) Some of these forms and notices were sent home by our school prior to the start of the school year, while others are posted on the page for our families to review and access as needed. Most forms and notices are posted in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole. If you have any questions or need assistance getting copies of any of these notices or forms, please check with our school office or contact comments@wcboe.org.

Thank you for your attention to these messages.
