About the English Language Support Center

  • The English Language Support Center is a program for high school English Language Learners enrolled in Wicomico County Schools who benefit from sheltered content classes in English Language Arts, History and Government, Science, and Math. In order to facilitate both content and language acquisition, core content classes at the Center are co-taught by content teachers in partnership with ESOL teachers and bilingual assistants. Beginning in the fall semester of the  '21-'22 school year, students will also have a small- group English Language Development (ELD) period.

High School students enrolled at the English Language Support Center must first enroll at their home school and are placed in classes at the Center based on their English Language proficiency level.
