Open Houses for Every Wicomico School for 2022-2023 School Year
Wicomico schools will hold open houses Aug. 29-Sept. 1 in preparation for the opening of the 2022-2023 school year on Tuesday, Sept. 6, for most students.
Tuesday, Sept. 6: Students in grades 1-6 and grade 9 attend school on Sept. 6. (Please note these exceptions: All grades will attend at Pittsville Elementary and Middle, and only grade 6 will attend at Mardela Middle and High.)
Wednesday, Sept. 7: All students in grades 1-12 will be in school Wednesday, Sept. 7.
During the first week, Kindergarten and Prekindergarten students will report as scheduled by the assigned school; information will be in the welcome letter. The first day that all Prekindergarten and Kindergarten students will be in school together is Monday, Sept. 12.

Mardela High: All Mardela High students are invited to attend our Back to School Night on Monday, Aug. 29 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. (MMHS middle school students will have the same opportunity on Wednesday, Aug. 31.) Families will be able to pick up their student’s schedule after turning in their updated Student Personal Data & Emergency Record form, tour the school to see the changes in classrooms due to the renovation, pick up a map of the school that describes our new pick-up and drop-off procedures, order yearbooks and spiritwear, and meet their new teachers. This is also a chance to meet new members of the MMHS leadership team: Assistant Principal Nancy Guillemart (returning to the school where she once taught) and Dean of Students Joseph Hallman have joined Principal Liza Hastings and Assistant Principal Dr. Doreen Nolan. There will also be opportunities to join the PTA and support classes and groups by purchasing various school-related items.
English Language Support Center (ELSC): Back-to-School Night for the English Language Support Center will be held on Monday, Aug. 29 from 4-6 p.m. The ELSC leadership team of Principal Ms. Lavion Bratten and Assistant Principal Ms. Amy Rhodes can’t wait to welcome you back!
Tuesday, August 30: Elementary School Open Houses
Beaver Run Elementary: Beaver Run is excited about starting the 2022-2023 school year in our brand new building, and will have an open house from 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 with Teacher Meet and Greet, guided building tours and more. Please join us for a carnival of fun at East Wicomico Little League to celebrate the kickoff of our new school building and new school year. Please park in the East Wicomico Little League lot and head over; due to the ongoing site work parking is not available at the school. There will be carnival games, food for purchase including Kona Ice, community partners including the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, vendors and more. This will be a great opportunity to visit with the Chesapeake Health team to gain access to Beaver Run's new school wellness center for your student. Also, car rider tags will be distributed. Principal Mr. Curt Twilley, assistant principals Ms. Cindy Becker and Ms. Parris Abt, and the whole staff can’t wait to welcome all of our students and families to the new Beaver Run School for 2022-2023!
Charles H. Chipman Elementary: Open House Tuesday, Aug. 30 from 4-5pm. We are excited to welcome our students and families to the start of a wonderful school year. Scholars will enjoy socializing with peers and meeting their teachers, as well as new Assistant Principal Ms. Meeka McCoy, who joins Principal Antionette Perry on the school leadership team. Please know that due to construction, part of the school may not be accessible that evening. We are looking forward to seeing you and your scholar.
Delmar Elementary: Delmar Elementary teachers and staff are looking forward to returning to our in-person open house on Tuesday, Aug. 30 from 4-6 p.m. Students, parents and guardians are welcome to tour our school and interact with our amazing school staff. Families will have the opportunity to meet our new assistant principal, Mr. Chris McLaughlin, along with returning Principal Mr. Kirby Bryson and Assistant Principal Mrs. Shelly Hall. Parents will also have the chance to register for car rider tags, receive information about Family Portal login, and gather their child’s supplies and back-to-school information packets. More information will be shared in our back-to-school letter that will be mailed on Aug. 19.
East Salisbury Elementary: The East Salisbury staff is excited to welcome our scholars back in August. Open House for ESS will be Tuesday, Aug. 30 from 4- 5:30 p.m. Enjoy visiting your classroom, meeting your teacher, signing up for Class Dojo and picking up tags for car riders. Welcome Dr. Keoshia Warner-Chaibou as Assistant Principal (formerly ESS Dean) and new Dean of Students Ms. Pamela Slade to the East Salisbury Leadership Team along with Principal Ms. Maria Wright. Please also mark your calendar for our Title I Back-to-School Night on Thursday, Sept. 22. More information will be coming home about additional Welcome Back to School activities.
Fruitland Primary: Open House Tuesday, Aug. 30 from 4-5:30 p.m. Principal Ms. Lisa Forbush, Assistant Principal Ms. Christina Murray, and the whole FPS team are excited to welcome our students and families to the start of a wonderful school year. Students will enjoy briefly socializing with peers and meeting their teachers. Parents will have the opportunity to sign up for the Class Dojo system and register for a car rider tag. Be sure to have a valid ID to be scanned into the RAPTOR system prior to building entry.
Fruitland Intermediate School: Tuesday, Aug. 30, 5-6:30 p.m., Back-to-School Open House to meet and greet teachers, administrators, and staff members. Tour the school, see your child’s classrooms and visit with teachers. Come meet Fruitland Intermediate’s new Principal, Ms. Tara Parsons, who will serve as the school’s leader alongside Assistant Principal Ms. Valerie Folsom. Sign up for Class Dojo and register for car rider tags during this event. Enjoy a snack as you leave!
Glen Avenue Elementary: Tuesday, Aug. 30, 4:30-5:30 p.m., Open House. Glen Avenue School is thrilled to welcome back our students and families! You are invited to visit the school and meet the teachers and other school staff, including new Principal Mrs. Michele McGoogan and returning Assistant Principal Twynette Binns, during Open House. This is a great time to have your child get comfortable with his/her new classroom and find out who is in the same class. Be sure to visit the gym to meet our new PE teachers, Mr. Hering and Mr. Cope, the music room to meet Ms. Morris, our new music teacher, and the art room to meet our new art teacher, Ms. Johnson. Check out the newly painted play area outside the school, too!
North Salisbury Elementary: Tuesday, Aug. 30, Open House event for all students 3:30-5:30 p.m. The strong relationship fostered between students, staff and our NSS families begins with our open house events. During Open House, students and their families will have the opportunity to participate in our fabulous Parent Teacher Organization, visit with classroom teachers and teams, tour our wonderful school, enroll in Class Dojo, receive login information for Family Portal, learn about after-school care options, and review examples of our school Consistent Attire Program requirements. North Salisbury families will receive additional details on Open House activities with the mid-August welcome letter. Principal Ms. Kimberly Pinhey, Assistant Principal Ms. Marie Baker, new Dean of Students Ms. Tiffany Redden and the whole NSS team can’t wait to see everyone for another great school year!
Northwestern Elementary: Get ready for the new school year by coming to our Back-to-School Open House Night on Tuesday, August 30th from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Principal Mrs. Aly Dargan and our new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Gerrie Wiersberg, are ecstatic to welcome all Northwestern students and families to this event, where you can meet our amazing teachers and staff. Families will be able to pick up their transportation tags (information to follow in the welcome back letter that will be sent out on Aug. 19), sign up for Class Dojo, order spirit wear, become a member of the PTA, and meet some awesome community partners!
Pemberton Elementary: On Tuesday, Aug. 30, Pemberton will have an Open House for all Grades (Y3-5th) from 4-6 p.m. During Open House, our families can meet classroom teachers, review and update student transportation information. Also, during this time families can receive bus tags, car rider tags, walker tags, and sign up for Class Dojo. In addition, Pemberton is excited to welcome our new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Kaytlin Curren, who will work alongside Principal Dr. Ryan Kessler. We look forward to seeing everyone on August 30th.
Pinehurst Elementary: Open House for Pinehurst Elementary School students and families will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 30 from 4-6 p.m. During the event families will have the opportunity to take a tour of our newly renovated school, visit your child’s classroom, and register to become a member of our PTA. More information regarding the event will be forthcoming. Pinehurst is excited to have two familiar faces in new leadership roles this year: Assistant Principal Ms. Madison O’Leary (formerly Dean of Students) and Dean of Students Ms. Jennifer Hill (a longtime Pinehurst teacher) join Principal Ms. Chelsea Seabrease on the school’s leadership team. Our school looks forward to seeing our new and returning Pinehurst Panthers on Tuesday, Aug. 30!
Prince Street Elementary: Tuesday, Aug. 30, Open House at Prince Street Elementary 4- 6 p.m. for all grade levels of students. Prince Street is excited to welcome Assistant Principal, Ms. Sheree Douglas-Johnson, to its leadership team to serve alongside Principal Mr. Jason Miller, Assistant Principal Ms. Kim Waters and Dean of Students Dr. Carla Hodges-Brown.
West Salisbury Elementary: Tuesday, Aug. 30, Open House 5-7 p.m. Come and meet your teachers, and visit with the entire Tiger team for 2022-2023 including new Principal Mr. Kimandi Binns (our former Assistant Principal) and new Assistant Principal Ms. Lauren Monroe.
Westside Primary: Tuesday, Aug. 30, Open House 4:30-6 p.m. Principal Mr. Glendon Jones and Lead Teacher Mrs. Tawanda Small look forward to seeing everyone.
Westside Intermediate: Tuesday Aug. 30, Open House at Westside Intermediate 4:30-6:30 p.m. Westside Intermediate is excited to see students and parents and guardians as we get ready for the 2022-2023 school year. We’re looking forward to everyone meeting new Assistant Principal Ms. Breonna Hopkins, who has joined Principal Ms. Christina Stewart on the leadership team.
Willards Elementary: Tuesday, Aug. 30, administration and teachers welcome our school families to join them along with the PTA Executive Committee for our first PTA meeting of the year to be held from 4:30-5 p.m. in our cafeteria. Directly after the PTA meeting we will open classrooms for our Back-to-School Open House from 5-6 p.m. During this time parents and students are welcome to visit their child’s classroom and meet their child’s new teacher. Wednesday, August 31: Middle School Open Houses
Pittsville Elementary and Middle: On Wednesday, Aug. 31, the administration, faculty, staff, and PTA of Pittsville Elementary and Middle will welcome all students and their families to a new school year during a Back-to-School Open House from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Pittsville is eager for everyone to meet new Assistant Principal Ms. Angela Kerrick, who joins Principal Ms. Kris Gosnell on the school leadership team.
Bennett Middle: Back to School Night for 6th graders only on Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 4-6 p.m. The administration, faculty and staff look forward to seeing students and families as we get ready to start another LEGENDARY school year. Students will be eligible to receive their schedule at the back-to-school event once the back-to-school information has been completed and returned. Come meet the BMS leadership team: new Assistant Principal Ms. Johanna Duncan, new Dean of Students Ms. Kamesha Miller, and returning administrators Principal Ms. Erin Nathan, Assistant Principal Ms. Vera Reed, and Dean of Students Mr. Daniel Menear.

Once these documents have been accepted, the student is eligible to receive his/her schedule for the school year. Meet the newest member of our leadership team, Dean of Students Mr. Joseph Blaszkow, who joins returning administrators Principal Mr. Terance Dunn, Assistant Principals Mr. James Hesen and Ms. Jen Mudd, and Dean of Students Ms. Carrie Reeve.
Wicomico Middle: On Wednesday, Aug. 31 the administration, faculty, staff, and PTA will welcome all students and their families to a new school year during the Back-to-School Open House from 4-6 p.m. Parents may turn in required documents from the Back-to-School invitation packet the evening of the open house. Once these documents have been accepted, the student is eligible to receive his/her schedule for the school year and Family Portal information in the gym. Come out and meet the 2022-2023 WMS leadership team: Principal Jason Capobianco, Assistant Principals Latonya Wilson and Jo A. Branham, and Deans of Students Cliff Reed and Jason Hussey.
Thursday, September 1: High School Open Houses
James M. Bennett High School: The evening of Thursday, Sept. 1 from 4-6 p.m. is the PTSA Open House Night at JMB for 9th graders only. Students and families will meet in the JMB Cafeteria at 4 p.m. for a welcome meeting with PTSA and school administration and then classroom visitation. The evening of Tuesday, Sept. 6 from 4-6 p.m. is the PTSA Open House Night for grades 10, 11 and 12. Student and families will meet in the JMB Cafeteria at 4 p.m. for a welcome meeting with PTSA and school administration and then classroom visitation. JMB is excited to introduce everyone to the school’s leadership team for 2022-2023: Joining Principal Ms. Christel Savage are Assistant Principals Mr. Brent Lewis and Ms. Sarah Harmon (both formerly deans of students) and Ms. Alison Dunn, and Deans of Students Mr. Devin Smith and Mr. Greg Lasinski.
Parkside High: Parkside’s Back-to-School Night will be Thursday, Sept. 1 at the school from 4:30-6:30 p.m. with an open house and classroom visitation for all students and their families to kick off the RAMFAM Reboot to the new year! From 12-3 p.m. on Sept. 1, Parkside 10th, 11th and 12th graders can also pick up their schedules with a completed Student Personal Data & Emergency Record form. The RAMFAM is pleased to have everyone meet two new faces on the administrative team, deans of students Ms. Heather Sneeuwjagt and Mrs. Leslie Tolley, who will serve alongside Principal Ms. Tara O’Barsky and assistant principals Mr. Brian Briggs, Mr. Keith Bailey, and Mr. William Witte (CTE).
Wicomico High: The annual Freshman BBQ is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 1 at the school from 4-6 p.m. This event is for first-time 9th graders only. The event will take place outside the Auditorium/Gym/Lobby area located on the Glen Avenue side of the school. There will also be tables set up for families to visit to get information about some of the clubs and organizations available at the school. Students attending the event will be able to pick up class schedules once required school documents are turned in. (Schedules for all other students will be distributed on the first day of school for upperclassmen, which is Wednesday, Sept. 7.) At the first-time freshmen event on Sept. 1 tours will also be given, for any student who would like one. Come meet new and returning people on WiHi’s leadership team: Team members in new roles are Principal Dr. Undrea Blake, Assistant Principal Ms. Tessa Celeste (former dean of students) and Dean of Students Mr. Bradford Dalton. They will serve alongside returning leadership team members assistant principals Mr. Kenneth Popp and Ms. Georgine Fronczak and Dean of Students Ms. Kalthoum Gharbi.
Choices Academy: Open House Thursday, Sept. 1, from 4-6 p.m. Principal Ms. Courtney Elliott and Assistant Principal Mr. Michael Beale look forward to having everyone meet the new Dean of Students, Ms. Bonnie Johnson.
Wicomico Evening High School: Back-to-School Night will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 4-6 p.m. Please note that registration for new Evening High School full-time enrollees for the fall semester will be Aug. 15-Sept. 15. Please see your school counselor for registration information. Fall term classes begin Monday, Sept 19.
