Wicomico Early Childhood Council
The Wicomico Early Childhood Council (WECC) was formed in 2012 under the auspices of the Maryland Race to the Top-Early Learning Challenge (RTT-ELC) grant. The Maryland RTT-ELC grant is used to fund ten early learning initiatives that are designed to ensure that all Maryland children enter school ready to learn.
The council is working to identify critical needs regarding young children and to work with local and state agencies to address those needs. Additionally, the work of this group is to mirror that of the Governor’s State Advisory Council on Early Care and Education. The local council is currently working to develop action agendas in support of the RTT-ELC grant’s implementation to ensure that the statewide reform effort addresses our local needs.
For additional information regarding this important work, please contact Sandra L. Drummond, Supervisor for Early Childhood and Title I Programs, at 410-677-4523.
The Wicomico Early Child Council members consist of partners across multiple agencies.
