The English Language Support Center is a transitional program for high school English Language Learners enrolled in Wicomico County Schools who benefit from sheltered content classes in English Language Arts, History and Government, Science, and Math. In order to facilitate both content and language acquisition, core content classes at the Center are co-taught by content teachers in partnership with ESOL teachers and bilingual assistants. Students also have a small- group English Language Development (ELD/ESOL) period. Students are enrolled in electives at their home high school.
High School students enrolled at the English Language Support Center must first enroll at their home school and are placed in classes at the Center based on their English Language proficiency level. Shuttle bus transportation is provided from students' home schools to and from the Center each day.
