Parent Message 11-10

Report cards will go home with students on Tuesday.  Please take time to talk with your student about their academic performance during the first term.  This is a good time to reflect with them and set second term goals.  High school students still need support and guidance from parents and guardians to help them stay motivated and on track.

As we enter the 2nd term our attendance process will start over as we work to reduce absences in our school and county.  Just a reminder that students who miss 5 unexcused days will need to participate in attendance recover to make up missed time and grades.

Any student who would like to order the 2020 yearbook, go to Balfour.com. There is an early bird price of $70 until December 1. After that, the price will be $75, so order early. Last year we sold out of all yearbooks.

Our National Honor Society will be conducting a pajama drive through December 3rd.  See attached flyer for more information as it relates to this great cause.

Tryouts for winter sports will start on Friday the 15th.  Students cannot tryout unless they have their physicals completed.  Attached is the information needed get those physicals and to register your student for winter sports.

Be sure to check out our bulletin and Facebook for all the upcoming activities and events this week.

Just a reminder that though safety is our priority, please know that you are welcome to visit your student at school at any time.  Visitors are welcome throughout the school year.  Visitors must be on the student’s contact information in the computer and they must be over 21.  All visitors must check in with the office through our automated system and you must have a valid ID.

Wednesday the 13th is World Kindness Day.  Please encourage your student to wear orange and talk to them about the importance of kindness.

The Kindness Act for Monday, November 11th from the Kindness Boomerang by Orly Wahba say, “Take time to really listen today.  Someone in your own home may need to talk.”  We all get busy, so this is a great reminder to slow down and listen to those around us.

Thank you and have a great evening.
